The High Priestess represents the occult and all the secrets that are hidden behind the veil. She represents the Shekhinah, the presence of the divine feminine aspect of the Divine.

She holds a copy of the Torah on her lap as she sits between the mystical pillars in the Temple of Solomon. These pillars represent the duality of life; black and white, light and dark, spirit and matter.

They tell us to choose. But we must use inner wisdom and stillness before making that decision.

She also attunes us to inner feminine wisdom as well as dreams, cycles and lunar tides. We can interpret timing with the High Priestess tarot card as astrological equivalent of Pisces.

The High Priestess tarot card balances the male energy of The Magician. As she sits in front of the the veil of pomegranates  she is the embodiment of intuition.

ANCIENT WISDOM OF THIS CARD

The pomegranates are an ancient symbol of fertility. If we look closely at the pattern they represent the Tree of Life . In Jewish symbolism defines the path to God.

On her head she wears the crown of Hathor, the Mother of the Sun God Ra. This implicates that she is the giver of life, the Sophia. She is feminine wisdom and the consort of God.

To interpret the High Priestess when present in a tarot card reading we understand that she is the path to God and through her all things are made known. The High Priestess represents the celestial  mother – and the Virgin Mary – and can often represent a platonic friendship between a man and woman.

There are times when we can interpret the High Priestess tarot card in a more mundane fashion. She can represent secrets and the unknown.

This could be a secret woman inserting herself into and already existing relationship. When the High Priestess tarot card is present in tarot card readings concerning love and relationships, her presence should be clearly regarded.

And we do recommend the tarot card reader dig a little deeper to ask the cards to reveal directly whether or not there is a hidden woman in a relationship before presenting that information to the client.
