Is Ignorance Really Bliss in Relationships?

When it comes to relationships, some seem to think ignorance is bliss. They claim to want the truth, but do everything in their power to avoid it.

Why is it so difficult to see the truth when it comes to your relationship? How do some people choose to see what they want to see and not what is staring them in the face?

Why is it easier to believe lies than accept the truth? In relationships, why is it easier to believe the most unbelievable lies that defy all logic?

IGNORANCE OVER REALITY

Is Ignorance Really Bliss in Relationships?

One reason could be that ignorance is bliss for some people and they would rather accept a fantasy than their current reality. Why would that be? Because they know if they accept the truth, the truth can hurt. And then they would have to make serious changes in their lives.

Look at people who are involved in affairs. Many people would love to believe that one day the one they love will leave their spouse so they can be together. But will that ever happen?

Are the signs pointing to the fact that it will never happen? No one wants to believe that someone is just using them so they can have their cake and eat it too. But it’s happening to some people, isn’t it? How do you know it isn’t you?

Have you caught your significant other cheating? Did they give you a bunch of excuses in an effort to make you believe they were not cheating? Was is believable?

Did they tell you that although they cheated in the past, they won’t cheat again in the future? Do you think they really learned their lesson? Are some of their suspicious behaviors from the past showing up in your current relationship? Are they accusing you of being paranoid or making you feel guilty for suspecting them of cheating when they are not?

How do you know what to believe at this point in your relationship?

Have you been waiting to be rewarded by your boss or manager for all the hard work you have done? Have they given you excuse after excuse of why you have not gotten a raise or promotion? Are those excuses valid or is your working relationship completely one-sided? Are you choosing to believe what they’re saying because you really don’t want to look for another position elsewhere? Is fear keeping you from seeing the truth?

Have you tried online dating or met someone online that you developed feelings for? Are you so happy with your Internet romance that the red flags you should be seeing you are instead ignoring?

Internet relationships should be more carefully scrutinized than in person relationships. When it comes to online relationships, ignorance is not bliss. It’s outright dangerous. It is way too easy to hide information, play games and manipulate people and their emotions. So is your online romance really on the up and up or are you refusing to see the truth in your situation?

Your gut, or inner voice, is a great lie detector. When your gut or inner voice is telling you something is not ringing true, face it.

Don’t ignore it.

Those alarm bells are going off for a reason and you need to address that reason. But why do some ignore their inner voice? Their inner voice told them something was wrong, but they chose to believe the unbelievable. Why?

Because believing there was nothing wrong was easier than dealing with something that’s wrong. You may not be a confrontational person but you should always confront the truth. And deal with the truth, because the truth always comes out in the end.
